7 Day GP service overview
If you're registered with a GP Practice in Southport or Formby then you have access to our 7 Day GP service. It offers routine, pre-booked appointments during the evening and weekends.
Key Information
Opening Times: Monday - Friday, 5pm-9pm. Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday, 9am-1pm.
Address: The Family Surgery, 107 Liverpool Road, Birkdale, Southport, PR8 4DB
Accessibility: Wheelchair access, lift, hearing-loop device and disabled parking
Appointments
To book, you need to call your GP Practice and ask for a 7 Day GP service appointment. All appointments will take place at The Family Surgery, although some telephone consultations are available on request. We don't currently offer home visit appointments.

- Advanced Nurse Practitioner consultations
- Mental Health Specialist Nurse consultations
- Physiotherapy telephone triage and face-to-face appointments
- Practice nurse chronic disease reviews:
- Asthma checks
- Diabetes
- Hypertension/blood pressure checks
- Cervical screening tests
- Blood tests
- Echocardiograms (ECGs)
- Ear syringing
Please be aware this isn't an urgent care or walk-in service.

The Southport and Formby Out of Hours Physiotherapy Service brings together specialist musculoskeletal (MSK) clinicians to subjectively assess, diagnose and manage MSK conditions via convenient telephone appointments in evenings and weekends.

We discuss MSK conditions and decide whether this can be managed with advice and exercises, or if there is a need for further sessions of face-to-face physiotherapy.
Our team includes specialist clinicians covering all musculoskeletal areas, who can provide a comprehensive assessment and management plan in a telephone setting. Our aim is to get you an appointment with the right person quickly, to enable management of your condition as early as possible.

Test Results
If you are asked to have blood tests, an X-ray or CT scan during a consultation in the 7 Day GP Service, these will be scheduled to be done at your local Phlebotomy Service or Radiology Department. Blood tests typically 3-5 working days to review, and X-rays and CT scans typically take 7-10 working days.
All tests requested are reviewed by a GP at the 7 Day service. You will only receive the results of your test if you require further clinical intervention or advice. Your GP practice will not have access to your results. To discuss your results, please contact the 7 Day GP service directly.
